El Venado Polo School in Argentina

For the past 50 years, Argentina has been the mecca of the polo world. It has produced more top players, horses and teams than all other nations combined. To indulge yourself in the ultimate polo experience, El Venado Polo School is a must. Year-round instruction in Argentina, England, New York, and Hawaii is tailored to the individual's needs and provided personally by El Venado's owner Federico Cendoya, a 5-goal pro.

Beginners and Youth

Although polo enthusiasts of all levels enjoy El Venado's facilities, Federico provides specially prepared programs for beginners of all ages. This includes selected ponies, gear and polo exercises to adapt to the individual need and maximize the learning experience.

Small Groups and Personalized Instruction

El Venado is committed to providing the highest quality polo instruction. For this reason, players are organized in small groups in order to maximize personalized, one-on-one lessons.

Activities

A typical day starts by waking to the songs of birds and enjoying a typically light Argentine breakfast of coffee, juice and pastries. Then, it's off to stick and ball sessions and tutoring. An indoor "wooden horse & cage", recently added to the facilities, allows for greater perfectioning. Guests can work on their skills under any weather conditions. Sessions end with a break for lunch and a well-earned siesta. In the afternoon, knowledge gained in lessons is put to use in chukkers. Polo usually remains in the 12-goal level, ideal for teaching. Post-polo teas turn into "chalk talks" and include cold drinks and traditional Argentine appetizers in a social atmosphere. After dinner, all return to the living room for coffee, brandy and cigars.

Non-playing companions can enjoy the swimming pool or take a stroll on foot or horseback through the extensive arboretum, where many of the trees date back well into the last century. Horses are always available during non-structured hours and guests can stick and ball on their own or explore the pampa at a leisurely pace.

Program Specifics

The seasons for El Venado Polo School in Argentina are from October to December and from January to May. The weekly rate is US$2100 from October to April. Non-playing companions pay US$1000. Please consult us regarding discounts for groups.

• four chukkers, five times a week with rated professionals

• traditional Argentine meals, appetizers, and beverages

Although El Venado can provide you with polo gear during your stay, we strongly recommend that you bring your own boots, gloves and helmet to guarantee a comfortable fit.
