El Venado is a fourth-generation working ranch in the heart of Las Pampas, located in Pila, Buenos Aires Province — 165km south of Buenos Aires, about two hours by car.
Built in 1878 by Federico Cendoya’s great-grandfather, the hacienda has been in the same family ever since. Today it spans 2,500 acres, is home to over 1,000 head of cattle and 200 horses, and has housed one of Argentina’s most respected polo schools since the 1990s.
Guests at El Venado don’t just play polo, they step into a way of life. Days here follow the natural rhythm of the estancia: horses being trained at dawn, gauchos moving cattle across the open grassland, long lunches under the shade of old trees, and chukkas as the afternoon light turns gold over the pampas. It’s a long way from everyday life, and that’s precisely the point.
